First, my initial idea for my diorama was to feature a Pokémon theme, with a Poké Ball being thrown across the screen and caught by a hand onscreen. However, I quickly changed my mind. I’m a huge fan of Space Invaders and its significant contribution to the video game industry, so I chose this iconic game as the theme for my diorama. I began with my storyboards, aiming to stay true to the original games while also adding my own twist. I then started creating my assets by using Photoshop’s grid feature and the pencil tool to make a pixel grid. These tools enabled me to create sprites that actually appear in Space Invaders. Video games have had a huge impact on my life, and I thought it was the perfect idea to pay tribute to an iconic game that revolutionized the video game industry. Space Invaders was a game that marked the beginning of the video game industry’s success, and combined with my excitement for playing video games, I came up with my final diorama shown below. This project was enjoyable throughout and serves as a great piece for my portfolio.
